My
Windows computer seems to just get slowere and slower. What can I do to
speed it up?
By far the largest culprits for hogging Windows resources and
slowing your computer down are the Norton and Symantec Security Suites.
We suggest removing them completely and trying Avast Antivirus,
which can be found in the links of our FREE STUFF page on this site.
The
second most prevalant factor in Windows slowness would be not having
enough RAM memory installed. Windows requires at least 1 gigabyte of
RAM to function optimally. You can use the free SIW program on our FREE
STUFF page to easily measure your system RAM.
Is
is more cost effective to buy a new computer or just upgrade my old one?
These
days, it is almost always cheaper to just buy a new computer than to
upgrade an old one to a better level of performance. The exception
would be a single item or limited upgrade, like more RAM, larger hard
disk or firewire card for added capability.
The best bargains for upgrades are actually refurbished computers from
major manufacturers.
